Norm Medeiros

Biography

Norm assists the College Librarian with overall administration of the Libraries, including program planning, budgeting, human resources, and policy setting. The Collections Management and Metadata Services (CMMS) division of the Libraries oversees the acquisition, description, and management of print and electronic collections. In his coordinator capacity for CMMS, Norm works closely with subject librarians at Haverford, as well as library colleagues at Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges, with particular emphasis on developing shared services and approaches within collections and technical services. Norm serves as subject librarian for economics, providing classroom and individual instruction to students, and working with faculty to build a collection appropriate to the curricular and research needs of the major. With Haverford economist Richard Ball, Norm was recently awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant for Project TIER, a protocol that teaches transparency and reproducibility in undergraduate empirical research. Norm is active in the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association. He will serve as ALCTS President for the 2015-2016 term.
