Betsy Griffith-Smith

I came to Magill Library in 1992 after ten years as the Business Manager for Friends School Haverford.  Although I had lived in the area for two decades, the first time I crossed the bridge over College Avenue to the campus was the day I hand-delivered my resumé to the library.  My curiosity was rewarded with a very warm welcome from a faculty member who happened to be at the front desk when I arrived unannounced!  She immediately led me to the office of the chair of the search committee who in turn introduced me to the Library Director.  I knew that day that I wanted to work there and felt lucky when offered the position.

My job has expanded significantly as the financial system was upgraded and I learned the trade of ordering, especially music items and Quaker materials.  Along the way, I had the privilege of serving on AAC and a presidential search committee, singing in the Haverford-Bryn Mawr Chorale, and auditing two classes.

I live in Wayne (PA) with my husband, Paul, a Haverford alum.  In 2003 we chose Founders Hall to celebrate our wedding with music, family and many Haverford friends.  In addition to choral singing, I am a member of Radnor Monthly Meeting, and serve on the General Committee of Goshen Friends School.
